Worth a thousand words…

Posted by: Rachel   in 365, Everyday, Family & Friends, Pictures

My parents rarely got film developed. So when my Mom decided to take in a few rolls and see what they could find.. She found pictures from 24 years ago… pictures of her at her bridal showers, pictures of her growing belly.. Pictures of my Dad from when he looked healthy and young…

She put them up on her myspace for me, and some of them made me cry… she’s younger than I am now in these pictures… and god, from some angles it could be (several pounds lighter)… and from others, my sister exactly. At my age my Mom was on her second kid, and a Navy wife. Soon after Becky’s birth she stopped being a military mom, and become a preacher’s wife instead… I never thought about how hard that transition must have been for her… a Pastor’s work is never just his alone…

Did she know when she married my Dad what she was in for? Would she have still married him? I think so… and these pictures, they were my favorites… oh, the ones of the swans in the park, and birds in the trees made me tear up too, seeing them from my parents perspective, and themselves through each others eyes… it was sweet, and tear-jerking, so I thought I’d share..

And I tossed in some pictures from October of 1985 too, with a promise of my second Halloween to come tomorrow…

Yes - knowing everything - every moment - every heartache - every joy - I still would have married your dad. My devotional today was about how sometimes what God puts us through seems unjust, but the wonders He has in store for us is beyond anything we can imagine - I can only imagine. I love you, more than I can ever express.
