It
I hate clowns. Wait, I won’t lie… I don’t dislike clowns, not exactly… I’m more afraid of them. Not to afraid, I don’t go running from them… but they do creep me out. When I was in the 6th grade my drama teacher showed It to the class without parental permission. I got nightmares from E.T. so you can imagine just what It did to me. After a while my friend and I got up and left the classroom, we were both “cemetery kids” (aka, seminary brats… preachers in training children), and neither of us had ever been allowed to watch anything like that. We left the room already scared.
After riding the bus home we went to our respective apartments to find them empty, and despite the fact we weren’t allowed to go to each others places without permission… that day we didn’t get in trouble for sticking close together. Once our parents found out, well.. The drama teacher was in a load of trouble, and the new fear of sewer drains Jessica and I shared was never mentioned. We avoided those metal grates like they were the plaque… I have never really gotten over It, or E.T. for that matter…
So when I opened up my Mom’s myspace to see what I was for my 2nd Halloween… imagine my distress at finding little Rachel, 16 months old, in a clown costume my Mom made herself… I made a cute It, really… see?
